Coronation Street's Rita Sullivan will turn up for her wedding in a police car following a dramatic day, it has been revealed.
New pictures of the cast filming on location in Manchester appear to show a happy ending for Rita (Barbara Knox) and her fiancé Dennis Tanner (Philip Lowrie) as the bride manages to make it to the ceremony.
As announced earlier this month, Rita will be kidnapped on her big day - leaving the guests wondering whether she'll arrive at the church on time.
Other drama on the day sees Dennis brawling with busybody Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) before Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) separates the feuding pair.
Coronation Street bosses have confirmed that Rita and Dennis's wedding will air in early June, coinciding with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Show producer Phil Collinson recently said: "We're doing a great big extravaganza, so we transmit two episodes on the Bank Holiday Monday. There's a great big street party, with the characters all dressed up as popstars through the 60 years of the Queen's reign.
"That's all happening at the same time as Rita's wedding, which is big and exciting."
Rita and Dennis became engaged in March.
