The youngster's behaviour continues to spiral out of control in the coming days, leading to a confrontation between him and headteacher Brian Packham.
Simon (Alexander Bain) runs out of school following the row, resulting in panic for Peter when he learns that his son has done a disappearing act. Peter (Chris Gascoyne) initially presumes that he'll have gone to Leanne, but when she insists that she hasn't seen him, they realise Simon is missing and are forced to call the police.
Unbeknown to Peter, Simon has actually returned to the flat, but he hides in the cupboard when his worried father comes home. As Peter heads back out to continue the search, Simon then comes out of his hiding place, where he has found a bottle of wine stashed by Carla (Alison King).
Still without news, Peter later returns to the flat and is horrified to find an unconscious Simon on the sofa with the open bottle of wine.
Simon is immediately taken to hospital, where a shocked Peter and Carla are forced to explain what has happened. When a guilty Carla then suggests that she should move out for Simon's sake, will Peter be able to give her the reassurances she needs?

Over on EastEnders, Abi Branning must decide how serious her feelings for Jay Mitchell are when she receives a letter offering her a scholarship trip to Costa Rica.
Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) becomes visibly distracted as she considers her options, but she soon realises that she can't leave Jay (Jamie Borthwick) - and the young couple end up declaring their love for each other.
The teenager is thrilled when a smitten Jay tells her that he doesn't know what he'd do without her, but she is soon left livid when she discovers that Tanya has confirmed the Costa Rica trip behind her back.
Abi insists that she wants to stay with Jay in Walford, but her plans are opposed by Tanya and Max, who attempt to talk the pair round. When Max assures Jay that his relationship with Abi will last whatever happens, the mechanic gets an idea.
Later, an emotional Jay tells Abi that she should go to Costa Rica after all, but on their honeymoon! Jay then drops to one knee, asking a stunned Abi to marry him…

Coming up in Emmerdale, Chas Dingle and Cameron Murray's affair storyline continues as they head off for a weekend away together.
The pair seize the opportunity to spend time in each other's company while Debbie, Andy and Sarah are on holiday in Paris.
Although they enjoy their time in a hotel room, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) can't help but feel jealous when Cameron (Dominic Power) calls Debbie to see how she's doing.
Over in the village, things become more complicated when Cain receives a phone call from Cameron's son asking for his dad, blowing Cameron's cover story that he's in Jersey with his family.
As Cain decides that Cameron must be playing away, he's determined to get to the bottom of this once and for all. Are Chas and Cameron in danger of being caught out?

Meanwhile, Hollyoaks bad boy Brendan Brady will remain at the centre of drama in the village as Walker arrives back on the scene.
Walker (Neil Newbon) doesn't get a warm welcome as he makes his return, with Cheryl feeling particularly concerned as she fears that Brendan (Emmett Scanlan) could be up to no good again.
Jealous Joel (Andrew Still) is also furious to see that Walker is back, but when he questions Brendan about this, he is confused when his mentor sticks up for Walker. Squaring up to Joel, Brendan reminds the teenager who's boss.
Joel refuses to keep his nose out of the situation as he is determined to find out what Brendan is up to.
When Joel follows Walker in an attempt to find out more about him, he makes an intriguing discovery about the mysterious newcomer… What is Walker hiding and how will Brendan react when Joel reports back to him?

Over on Doctors, Freya Wilson makes a decision she may live to regret when she puts her aunt Patti forward for a revolutionary drugs trial which could help with her lupus.
Freya (Lu Corfield) is determined to make things better for Patti, so she assists her with the application without letting her colleagues know that they are related.
Later, though, a guilty Freya confesses to Mandy that she lied on Patti's form by failing to disclose her vested interest - but she fears it's too late to go back now.
Unfortunately for Freya, the walls begin to close in when Patti pays a return visit to The Mill and spots a poster for Jack Hollins's new concierge service, before calling him round to help her sort through some old junk.
When Jack spots a photo of Freya at Patti's house, he realises they are related - and it's not long before he and Karen both know all about Freya's stunt.
Freya is left with no option but to confess all to Kevin, who has taken charge of recruiting some of the practice's patients for the trial.
Kevin is furious that Freya may have messed up his opportunity to prove himself and immediately reports her to their new boss Howard.
Howard is disgusted that Freya has jeopardised the future of the trial, and is determined to get rid of her as he now believes she is a liability. Is this the end for Freya's time at The Mill?

Coronation Street was the winner of our storyline poll last week as 34.2% of you chose the residents' Jubilee celebrations as the best plot.
