Kobo, the eReader rival to Amazon's Kindle, has agreed a deal with JK Rowling's Pottermore to bring the entire Harry Potter eBook collection to its customers.

Owners of the Kobo, Kobo Touch and Kobo Vox eReaders can now download all seven best-selling Harry Potter books to their Kobo libraries.

Similarly to a recent deal with Amazon, Pottermore has agreed favourable terms for the expansion onto Kobo devices.

Users can only purchase the eBooks direct from JK Rowling's online store, via www.kobobooks.com/harrypotter, meaning Pottermore retains the direct relationship with customers rather than Kobo.

The eBooks are available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, with more languages to follow.

Alongside Kobo devices, the books can also be used on Kobo's free eReading apps for iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac, PC and BlackBerry.

"We're excited to bring together the extremely successful Harry Potter phenomenon and the always-enthusiastic Kobo eReading community," said Michael Tamblyn, the executive vice president of content, sales and merchandising at Kobo.

"Fans have been waiting for years to see the Harry Potter series in digital and now that wait is over.

"Best-selling author JK Rowling has captured the imaginations of book lovers everywhere, and we couldn't be more excited about bringing her vision to the Kobo reading experience."

Pottermore chief executive Charlie Redmayne added: "Kobo is an increasingly powerful player in the eReading market and we are delighted to have them on board."
