Family Guy gave Fox a ratings boost last night (Sunday) by returning with a strong audience, Nielsen overnight data indicates.

The Seth MacFarlane animated sitcom pulled in 5.7m and 2.8 in the 18-49 adults metered markets, a rise of 600,000 and three demo points on its last edition on April 2.

The Cleveland Show, mustering 3.1m (1.5) at 7.30pm and 4m (1.9) at 9.30pm, also gained viewers for the network.

Meanwhile, steady audiences for The Simpsons (5m/2.3) and Bob's Burgers (3.9m/1.9) in the 8pm hour ensured Fox climbed to second place on the scoreboard.

Once Upon a Time (9.1m/2.9) and Desperate Housewives (8.1m/2.5) were solid performers as ABC topped primetime, while 10pm's GCB soared to 5.7m (1.9). America's Funniest Home Videos entertained 6.7m (1.4) on ABC at 7pm.

The Amazing Race (8.4m/2.2) and The Good Wife finale (9.8m/1.7) both recorded season lows on CBS, while NYC 22 slipped further to 7.6m (1.2). 60 Minutes had 9.9m (1.2) at 7pm.

Celebrity Apprentice saw its audience decline for a second week running on NBC, logging 6.3m (1.9) between 9pm and 11pm, prior to which 7.4m (0.9) tuned in to Harry's Law. Dateline claimed 3.4m (0.8) at 7pm.
