NBC has been widely criticised for its Olympics broadcasting, beginning with their coverage of the Opening Ceremony, which cut out a memorial to the victims of the July 7 attacks in London.
The network has also been attacked for airing events on a delay and a spokesperson was recently forced to apologise after a promo spoiled the result of the 100m backstroke, which was won by Team USA swimmer Missy Franklin.
However, the ratings for the coverage have been good and Moonves - who heads up rival network CBS - has praised NBC while speaking with TMZ.
Confirming that he is supporting Team USA, Moonves said: "I like it all. I think NBC's doing a great job."
The CBS boss also praised the USA's gold medal-winning female gymnastics team, saying: "The women did very well tonight, didn't they? They killed it, they killed it. They did fabulous."
