The morning chatshow launched a public search to fill the slot following the departure of Ripa's former co-host Regis Philbin last year.

While a number of celebrities have stepped in as co-host over the past several months, Ripa said that Cooper would be perfect for the job if only he didn't have his own show already.
"We have a connection like nobody else. I worship him!" she told US Weekly.
Ripa went on to say that while she enjoys working with the stars who have tried out the part - including Alec Baldwin, Kim Kardashian, Nick Lachey and Donald Trump - she is looking forward to finding someone on a more permanent basis.
"It's like The Bachelor. It's fun [to see different co-hosts], but you want the girl to settle down!" she said.
