Speaking at their upfront presentation in New York today (May 14), Univision president Cesar Conde announced the network's team-up with Rodriguez, John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa's upcoming channel, which launches in late 2013 via Comcast.

"The El Rey Network is going to be the home of kick-ass entertainment," said Rodriguez.

From Dusk Till Dawn was a 1996 crime and horror film, directed by Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino.

George Clooney and Harvey Keitel starred in the original film, which went on to become a cult favourite. It centred around two criminals facing off against vampires while stuck in a Mexican bar after pulling off a job.

No further details about the project's production or possible airdates were given.

Rodriguez also announced a currently untitled action series by Fringe and Star Trek Into Darkness producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
