Fringe's Joel Wyman devised Almost Human - a futuristic cop drama - before bringing on CSI and Grimm veteran Shankar.

While Shankar has now left the show following creative differences, his departure is said to be amicable.

In his absence, Wyman will head up Almost Human as sole showrunner - the same position he filled on the final season of Fringe.

The new series, set 35 years in the future, stars Urban as John Kennex, a human cop unwillingly teamed with an android partner (Michael Ealy).

Almost Human premieres on November 4 on Fox. The show is yet to secure a UK broadcaster.
