The actress took to Twitter on Wednesday (June 7) to retweet a series of threatening messages, including from a poster called @DaCloneKiller who wrote: "Somebody should drag [Shepherd] in a back alley and rape [her]."
Shepherd responded by insisting that she would not let such direct threats go unpunished.
"I am going 2 file a police report 4U threatening me. And so help me God, when I find out where U live, charges will follow," she wrote.
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant continued: "This type of bullying is one of the reasons children are killing themselves b/c there's no consequences for the bully(s)."
Shepherd later spoke with police, who apparently told her that it is difficult to pursue charges for online postings.
She explained: "The police said @Twitter has to be subpoenaed for release of @DaCloneKiller's information. I will be pursuing this.
"Online bullying needs 2 stop @Twitter-children are dying b/c they don't know how to combat cowards like @DaCloneKiller."
The View star has received numerous Twitter messages of support for her stand against bullying.
