The actor - who plays Walter Bishop on the Fox drama - told Entertainment Weekly that the show needs to conclude properly to satisfy its fans.
"Fringe is a saga… there needs to be a resolution," he explained. "People are so devoted to Fringe and to wanting this story to be completed. And if we can complete it properly, then it goes into the annals as one of the greatest science fiction stories of all time."
Noble recently hinted that the final season of Fringe will leap forward in time, taking place in the future world of 2036.
"Most of next season [will be there]," he confirmed. "Episode 4.19 [the future-set 'Letters of Transit'] didn't just appear.
"We didn't even know we were picked up then. But what they said was, 'If we are being picked up, this is where we're going'."
Fringe will return to Fox on Friday, September 28 at 9/8c. In the UK, the series airs on Sky1.
