However, Beyoncé's parent has since insisted that she would not have agreed to the role even if Cowell approached her.
"It would never happen as Beyoncé would never do that," Knowles told the Sunday Mirror. "There are a few things that she would never do and that is one. It's not for her."
It has been reported this weekend that Britney Spears rejected a $10m (£6m) deal to judge season two of The X Factor USA.
