Howard Stern: 'Britney Spears will be a train wreck on X Factor USA'

By
Howard Stern has predicted that Britney Spears will be a "train wreck" if she joins The X Factor USA.

Stern commented on reports that Spears has signed a $15 million (£9.3m) contract to join The X Factor's judging panel in a press conference on Thursday (May 10).

"I think it's a wonderful decision, Britney still thinks the Earth is flat," the America's Got Talent star quipped. "Listen, I think we're going to tune in to see her, if she can sort of function through the thing."

He added: "As far as any real criticism, I think Simon [Cowell] and LA Reid will be doing that. I think Britney is going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit. I don't anticipate great opinions out of her... I'll tune in to see what kind of train wreck she is, absolutely."

Stern went on to compare Spears to Jennifer Lopez, thus continuing his recent criticism of American Idol's judges.

"I think she's going to sit there like JLo and [say], 'Oh, you're wonderful. You're terrific. Do you think I could get a perfume endorsement out of this? You think I could perform on the show?' I think that's what it's about," he commented.

Cowell and the X Factor producers have yet to confirm any contractual agreement with Spears.

Demi Lovato has also been linked to the X Factor judging panel, with Chaka Khan reportedly lobbying to appear on the series as well.

The X Factor USA is due to return to Fox later this year.
