The returning judge discussed how The X Factor's dynamic has changed with the arrivals of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato in a promo released to TV Line.
"I don't feel like we're taking ourselves too seriously this year," Reid claimed. "It's probably more about the talent on the stage than it is about the judges' panel."
Reid also appeared to suggest that The X Factor has the premiere judging panel of all television talent shows.
"It's not some has-beens. It's not some wannabes," he said in a possible reference to The X Factor's rival shows The Voice and American Idol.
Reid continued: "It's two girls who are hot right now matched with these two guys who love talent and love stardom. [We can] recognise it and have had great success with it. I think this is the Rolls Royce [of judging panels]."
Simon Cowell publicly complained last week that NBC chose to schedule The Voice's three-night premiere directly against The X Factor's season opener.
"I think it is mean-spirited and I hope and I pray it backfires on them… I am pissed off about it, because I think there's a kind of gentleman's agreement," Cowell declared.
The X Factor premieres Wednesday, September 12 at 8/7c on Fox.
