Paul Lieberstein has revealed that he expects more cast members to leave The Office.

Lieberstein, who executive produces the show and stars as Toby, suggested that it is probable that more of the programme's stars will leave following Steve Carell's departure earlier this year.

"It will [probably] morph into a new office, maybe the way ER changed," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "But I think a lot of that was driven by actors having their fill. If people want to stay around here, we are happy to have them."

Lieberstein added that he believes The Office will survive without Carell, saying: "I think it has a couple more years, for sure. I think we have a total of eight or nine in us."

Lieberstein also praised the show's new cast member James Spader, who has signed up to play the new CEO of Sabre.

"He has a way of taking on his character so fully, even in rehearsal, that it's changing the mood on the set," he said. "Everyone is discovering who they are with this new energy. It's like the first day of school - you have your old friends, but there are some new classes and new teachers."

The Office will return for its new season on September 22 on NBC.
