'NCIS' season finale dominates for CBS despite 'America's Got Talent'

NCIS's ninth season ended with a huge audience last night, despite airing against America's Got Talent.

The Mark Harmon police procedural pulled in 18.7m (3.7) during the 8pm hour, up 13% in the demos week-on-week, then NCIS: Los Angeles's two-hour season finale had 15.1m (3.0).

America's Got Talent claimed NBC's highest timeslot audience of 2011/12 with 10.4m (3.4) between 8pm and 10pm, after which Fashion Star bowed out with 4.9m (1.8).

Double helpings of Glee, which grabbed 6m (2.4) and 6m (2.5) an hour later, helped Fox finish third.

Cougar Town's double bill fell to 3.4m (1.0) and 3.3m (1.0) in the 8pm hour, signalling a new low for the sitcom moving away from its ABC home from the autumn.

The latest Dancing with the Stars results show garnered the Alphabet Network's highest audience of the night with 12.9m (2.2), after which Private Practice rebounded to 7.1m (1.8) for its season climax.

The CW's 90210 concluded another season with a fairly modest 1.1m (0.5), while The LA Complex drew a dismal 570k (0.2).
