Sophie's certainly pleased that she won best photo last week - "it's a really good confidence boost" - but Seymone's not so impressed. "I don't think the Brits are making their comeback," she declares. "It's just their little moment to shine." Laura's also thrilled with the result as it means her nemesis Kyle has left: "We've trimmed the fat and the competition is on." Nice!
But Alisha's more worried - she was surprised by the comments that she is commercial, as that's the opposite of what she hears in London. But after being in the bottom two she's a "beast" - it was a "wake up call". She wants to win, and: "If I have to take out every single girl in this house, then that's what I'll do."
Time for a challenge! The models receive a video message from terrifying brand futurist Martin Lindstrom, who reveals that they're about to go on an important casting. First, he offers them all a little reminder of their critiques from the challenge earlier this cycle. "You need to believe in yourself always," he adds.
But what is this casting? The models arrive at the Beverly Hills Hotel where they discover that they are going to be given the chance to open a fashion show! Yes, they're going to be walking in the shows for the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize in front of people like Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa. "This is major," Sophie says.
Kelly Cutrone's there to watch as they attend castings for four designers - the model that walks in the winning designer's show will also grab a stay at a Dorchester Collection hotel. Not a bad prize to win! But first they have to impress those designers, and Catherine admits that she needs to stand out since she didn't book any shows at the Toronto castings. Unfortunately, she stands out by falling over in the first casting. Ouch. "I just crumble!" she gasps later.
Elsewhere, Alisha is unimpressed with the "fakery" and "overacting" from the other models when they meet the designers. And Kelly isn't very impressed: "We did not have what I call a 'slayer' - someone comes down the catwalk and they just bam. I didn't see a bam." So after the castings she takes the models aside to give them some critiques. But Seymone takes offence (later describing Kelly's comments as "a lot of crap") and the other models complain about her "moods" and rudeness. "Seymone, she's hard work," Annaliese admits.
But time to find out who's going to be opening shows - Alisha gets the job for Anndra Neen, Annaliese will open for Julian Louie, and Sophie books two shows, for Siki Im and Giulietta. All the models will walk though! And when the judges walk in, the models are very impressed: "It's a fashion mafia," says Laura. "I feel like a stiletto's going to be thrown at my head or something if I don't do well."
Showtime! All the models make it down the runway without falling over, and the designers are pleased with the models they picked to open for them. Annaliese even impresses Kelly: "Annaliese actually did really, really well." But the winning collection turns out to be Anndra Neen's! That means Alisha's the challenge winner (and she suggests she must have had some effect on the judges' decision...)
The Photo Shoot
When the Tyra Mail mentions the word "purr-fect", the models immediately start guessing what's ahead (Laura gets a bit over-excited by suggesting a tiger or a lion). It turns out that the models will be posing in couture dresses made of Hello Kitty merchandise (they've been made specifically for the shoot and took three months to produce!) What's more, their photographer is 16-year-old Ann He, who won a competition in Seventeen.
Catherine impresses Jay with her "regal" look, and he's also pleased with Alisha. "Hurricane Alisha is coming!" she smiles afterwards. Ann is impressed with "elegant" Annaliese, but she's more confused by Sophie, who's trying to be "whimsical" (Alisha suggests it looked like she was wading in water.)
Seymone's the first US girl to pose, but Jay's unimpressed by her attitude - the headdress she's wearing is hurting her ("I want to throw it across the parking lot, to be completely honest.") Sophie says Jay was "really, really struggling" with Seymone - uh oh! Laura's dress is also tough to wear - it's really heavy - but she decides to work her "butt" off.
Eboni is another model who struggles - she admits that it's hard to be the young and innocent person Tyra wants when she had a difficult upbringing. "The judges are going to tear her alive," Jay mutters. "It's terrible." Still, that's a wrap, and now all the models just focus on saying that they don't want to go home...
Georgina Chapman joins Tyra Banks, Nigel Barker and Kelly to judge the models this week, and we get going right away (after Tyra makes some purring sounds) with the American women!
Nigel likes Seymone's face in this picture, but adds that it's "modelling 101" - the photo needs a bit more mystery. Georgina says the outfit's so big it would be tough for anyone to carry it, but Kelly's thrown off by Seymone's body ("I feel like you're a hitchiker in Hello Kitty land who's been left"), adding that she's "stumbling". Tyra's also unimpressed - it's a bit too "show and tell".
Nigel points out that Laura always bends and contorts in her photos, but Kelly likes the shot - the only thing she would suggest to make the picture would be for Laura to wink like a "1950s housewife gone mad". Tyra uses the photo to work through her childhood envy of a friend who had a lot of Hello Kitty merchandise. "Getting past my issues I had as a child, I can appreciate this photo," she says, as Nigel calls this all "extreme therapy".
Nigel doesn't see any "playfulness" in the photo, while Georgina agrees that it needs a little quirk and humour. The judges agree that Eboni does something with her face that doesn't quite work - Tyra advises her to pretend that she has Novocaine in her face so she can relax and focus on her body movements.
Time for the UK models! Nigel praises Catherine's face but says the body language is "just a little too obvious". Kelly says she wants to like the shot but it's a bit "Linda Blair does Hello Kitty", comparing it to The Exorcist! But Georgina says she's drawn to Catherine's face and praises the "strength" in her eyes.
Kelly adores the photo and Nigel agrees it's Alisha's best picture yet. Georgina compares Alisha to Grace Jones, saying that she's wearing the clothes rather than the other way around. And although she's using a prop, it doesn't take over the shot. Meanwhile, Tyra praises Alisha's "snarl" - "It's Elvis meets Alisha."
Kelly loves the silhouette, but isn't sure about the face. Georgina praises her "amazing legs" and adds that she quite likes the way that the photo is "slightly off".
Nigel loves Annaliese's pose, but not the look on her face - "it just looks awkward". Kelly agrees that she wants to like Annaliese in the picture - she likes her from the neck down, but the neck up makes her "wanna say 'hasta la vista'". Georgina, though, disagrees - she quite likes the "deadness" in her face and likes the shot overall. Tyra agrees, causing a little discussion amongst the judges.
The judges deliberate
Time for the judges to talk through the models to make their decision! Kelly says that though Catherine wants to be a model, maybe she just isn't - she was "painful" in the challenge and looked as if she'd been "drugged". And the judges are also unimpressed with Seymone, as Kelly brings up her rudeness and "painful" walking (Georgina agrees with that.)
On the other hand, the judges adore Alisha's photo though agree that they hope it's not just a fluke. "I feel her power," Georgina admits. They worry that Laura is becoming a "one trick pony" with her poses, while Kelly criticises Eboni for not wearing her ponytails at the challenge, suggesting that it is "dissing" the judges. On to Sophie, and Kelly says she was like a "real model" on the runway, even if she's not so happy with the photo. And Kelly also defends Annaliese's walk, though she compares her photo to a "carnival cruise".
Who's Going Home?
Time for the results! Best photo goes to... Alisha! She's followed by Sophie, Catherine, Laura and Annaliese. That means two American girls are up for elimination - Eboni and Seymone!
Tyra suggests that both of the models "do not take into consideration how amazing the opportunity is to be here". "Eboni, the judges don't think that you appreciate and respect the very specific branding advice that the judges have given you," she continues, before telling Seymone: "The judges have gotten word back that when you were at your photo shoot, when you're at your challenges, that you don't take it seriously."
So who stays? Eboni! Yes, we're saying goodbye to Seymone, so Tyra hugs her and advises her to "show the world how amazing you can represent this body and make them feel good about themselves".
Later, Seymone admits that her elimination is "frustrating" as she really tried and suggests that other people should have gone because they were ready to walk out. She vows not to give up on modelling and becomes tearful. Eventually, she announces that she doesn't want to talk anymore and wants to go and see her family. "I've been trying so hard," she says. "So I just want to leave, if I can leave. Please, can I leave?"
