There's not much hanging about - it's straight into the first challenge! It's all about the company Newman's Own, who donate their profits to charity. The contestants' challenge is to each load 150 crates - half are 15lbs, half are 20lbs - onto their trucks.
Sounds tough, right? But there's an incentive - not only will the winner get a 1lb advantage at the weigh-in, but their hometown's local food bank will get a delivery of 30,740lbs of Newman's Own food (a pound for every pound lost on The Biggest Loser). That certainly motivates the contestants!
Buddy's not able to take part because of his injury, but the others begin stacking. Mark's strategy of loading the heaviest boxes first pays off as he ends up winning the contest, taking over Kim. But there's more - Newman's Own will donate a truckload of groceries to everyone's home town if they all finish their truckloads. Sweetly, Mark helps out and they all pull together to get it done. Nice!
The excuse this week is: "Exercise is boring", but before the contestants get stuck in, Bob confronts Megan about her effort so far. He says she works hard when he's with her but slacks off when she's by herself. Megan tearfully agrees, admitting that she has low self-esteem. So Bob sets her a personal task - to keep a video diary showing all of her exercise and diet. "I need you to fight for your life this week," he tells her.
Now it's time for some fun workouts! Dolvett takes his team to a Zumba class. They're nervous at first but soon get into the swing of things - especially Buddy, who begins showing off his moves. At the end of the session, the rest of the class surround the contestants to congratulate them on their weight loss so far in a moving little scene.
Meanwhile, Bob's team go mountain biking. Bob's particularly interested in making Megan work hard - and she does, refusing to get off her bike once. Bob's proud and when his team get to the top and survey the view, he reminds them that they wouldn't have been able to do this three months ago.
After the contestants get a visit from Subway legend Jared Fogle, Jeremy takes the opportunity to speak with Dolvett. He admits that his father suffered from an addiction to painkillers and reveals that he used to keep it a secret because he was ashamed. Dolvett offers him some reassurance and encouraging words, adding: "You don't have to hide."
Elsewhere, Megan's working hard when Bob's not around because of her video diary and explains that she is now "following all his rules to a T". She admits she's happy about the diary, saying: "It's teaching me I don't need anybody other than me and that I can do it."
Let's get cooking!
It's time for another challenge! The contestants meet Alison at the store, where she reveals that they're about to have a cooking test. They'll need to come up with a recipe and grab the groceries within seven minutes, before returning to the Ranch and assembling their dish within 20 minutes.
They'll be judged on taste, creativity and nutritional value by three surprise judges. And here's the big prize: the winner gets $1,000 for every pound they lose this week! It's not surprising that the contestants get a bit frantic in the aisles, but Jeremy's lost and has no idea what to cook. He eventually settles on French toast... but forgets the eggs!
Things are also hectic back at the Ranch as the cooking begins, but Chris is particularly worried as she hasn't got enough room to cook her chicken. When the time is up, she's devastated as she realises some of the meat is still not cooked.
It's time to meet the judges - season 12's Antone, Becky and Vinny! They begin judging the dishes... with Jeremy's interesting creation of bread, bananas, apples and strawberry jam and cream cheese first. Unsurprisingly, they're not impressed! ("My mission was not to embarrass myself," Jeremy says. "And I am totally failing at this point.")
Some of the other contestants have more success, but Antone notices straight away that Chris's chicken is not cooked, and when she says that the show is a "weight loss show" and not a cooking show, and then complains that she should have had more time, Antone worries that she's making excuses.
After the judging, the winner is announced - Kim! She's thrilled that her teriyaki beef on a Portobello mushroom is such a hit... and adds that she now has a great motivation for training with the $1,000 prize for each 1lb lost.
However, Antone takes the opportunity to admit that he was disappointed with Chris's attitude, saying that he's worried her excuses could spill over into other areas of her life. Chris is furious but decides against speaking back and instead heads to the gym. Antone, worried that he has offended her, later finds her to talk things through.
It's very tense as Chris accuses him of setting her back and psychoanalysing her when he doesn't know her. Antone explains that he wanted to point it out as he wouldn't be helping her if he just kept quiet. They finish their talk, but Chris is still upset and admits that she feels like she's "back at square one".
Last Chance Workout
Time for the last chance workouts, and Megan shows Bob her video diary. He's so pleased with her work and congratulates her - the response is thrilling for Megan. Still, that doesn't mean that Bob stops working her hard during their workout - in fact, he pushes her even harder (and threatens to cut off her hair!)
But Bob also knows that Chris is upset about Antone's comments and takes her aside. Tearfully, Chris admits that she's worried that if she can't handle his remarks, she won't be able to handle things when she gets home. But Bob reminds her of all that she has achieved and calls her a "strong" person, adding that he knows she has the power and strength inside her. His words have a big impact on Chris, who feels much better.
Meanwhile, Dolvett's set up an obstacle course for his team, which Kim wins. Dolvett's not surprised - she's got the money to work for!
It's time for the weigh-in, and everyone's feeling pretty nervous. Kim's first up and is thrilled to hear that she's lost 7lbs - that means $7,000! Chris is safe too, just, and reveals that she has no hard feelings towards Antone as she now sees his remarks as a test.
But Mark's devastated when he realises that he hasn't lost any weight this week ("It's like, why did I try?"), and Megan's really tearful when she discovers that despite her hard work, she hasn't lost enough weight to be safe. Bob reminds her not to let her demons get into her head and Megan agrees, saying: "I'm not going to let this overcome me."
The final order after the weigh-in is as follows:
1. Kim - loses 7lbs (4.09%) - and wins $7,000
2. Conda - loses 7lbs (3.23%)
3. Chris - loses 4lbs (2.30%)
4. Jeremy - loses 6lbs (2.26%)
5. Buddy - loses 6lbs (2.18%)
6. Megan - loses 4lbs (2.05%)
7. Mark - loses 0lbs (0.05%, because of his 1lb advantage)
So Megan and Mark are in danger, but who will be going home? Mark thinks he deserves to stay based on his overall performance, while Megan feels that she's just started to tap into what she's capable of.
It's time for the vote, though, and Jeremy votes for Megan because she got her strength "a little too late" and Mark's given more each week. Conda also votes out Megan, though she cries and explains that she knows she will be fine. Megan's bags are packed when a tearful Chris, too, votes for her, explaining that Mark will have more distractions at home as he is a father, and so needs the Ranch more.
Megan tells the others that she feels like she'll be able to "succeed" when she gets home, and later says that she has "come so far" during her time on the Ranch.
"I have a lot more confidence and my athletic ability is unreal," she says. "I never could have imagined that I would be this athletic. There's so many things that I never realised I was capable of, but in fact I am. I'm so proud of where I am now and I'm not done. I've got a long way to go but I feel like the Megan now has gotten so many tools I can be successful."
When we catch up with Megan at home, she's thrilled to be back riding horses. And what's more, her boyfriend Michael has proposed to her! He lost weight while she was away, so now they can work out together. As Megan goes wedding dress shopping, thrilled at her new dress size and with her proud mum Kimmy, she said: "I'm back in the saddle and back taking life head on. I'm really happy for that." We learn that she's planning to get married in 2013... and Conda will be a bridesmaid!
