Trailers for the upcoming fifth season of the show - which premieres Thursday (January 5) on MTV - tease that Guadagnino will depart the show in some capacity this season, although it is unclear if he will then return.
Speaking during a cast appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Guadagnino remained tight-lipped on the circumstances surrounded his apparent departure, saying only: "I had some personal problems I had to go through in the beginning."
Jersey Shore's fourth season saw the cast relocating to Florence, Italy for the summer, before immediately returning to Seaside Heights to begin filming the fifth season.
Guadagnino continued: "We all kind of had trouble because the schedule was so crazy going right from Italy to Jersey, filming 24 hours a day. It got real for me a little bit and I had to take care of myself, but you'll see a good thing ended up coming out of it."
The Situation added: "It was a big shock to us because if anybody was going to leave it was definitely not Vinny. He was the voice of reason in the house."
Pauly D then joked: "You don't realise what you've got until it's gone!"
As for whether fans can expect a sixth season of Jersey Shore, the cast said they would be interested as long as the viewers wanted it.
