The 12-episode series will follow the reality star's "transition from world-famous housemate to world-class DJ" and introduce viewers to his closest friends from home.
A network press release said: "Aiming to become one of the world's most successful and recognised names in the music industry, viewers will get to see Pauly D chase his dream as he signs a recording contract with rap icon 50 Cent's G-Note Records, accompanies pop icon Britney Spears on her international 'Femme Fatale Tour' and tries to balance it all with the array of photo shoots, public appearances and media interviews that are now a part of his everyday life."
Among the cast members on The Pauly D Project are the star's best friend and road manager Michael "Biggie" Morgan, personal security man and confidante Gerard "Big Jerry" Gialanella, friend Ryan Labbe - who gave Pauly and Biggie some of their first gigs - and marketing exec/close friend Jason "JROC" Craig.
Pauly D announced that he had signed to 50-Cent's record label in December 2011, following rumors that the rapper had been "desperate" to land the reality star and was planning a three-album deal.
The Jersey Shore star had previously served as an opening act on Britney Spears's 'Femme Fatale Tour', which also featured Nicki Minaj.
The Pauly D Project premieres Thursday, March 29 at 10.30pm ET/PT on MTV. It will also air internationally on MTV channels starting June 2012.
