The 'Mr Know It All' singer, who won American Idol's first season in 2002, said that she still watches the programme and is a big fan of similar shows such as The Voice.
"I'm a sucker for them! I love The Voice. Blake [Shelton] is a friend of mine, and he's one of the judges, so I watched it for that, and then I fell in love with the show," Clarkson explained in a new interview with Parade.
"I still watch Idol and it's still the number one show, so obviously I'm not the only one who loves to sit at home and be entertained."
Clarkson also offered her thoughts on former American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who headed the show's panel when she was a contestant.
"He's been my biggest supporter, but I would never be Simon's first pick. I don't really exude that "it" factor. He's the perfect example of how you have to take being in the public eye with a grain of salt," she said.
"If you think there's truth in what someone says, learn from it, and if not, just brush it off, because everybody's gonna have their two cents."
Clarkson recently admitted that she wishes she would have enjoyed her success more when she was younger.
She has been confirmed to headline the forthcoming VH1 Divas concert alongside Florence + the Machine, Jessie J, Mary J Blige, Jill Scott and Jennifer Hudson.
