Faring only slightly better was DeAndre Brackensick, whose version of Eric Benet's 'Sometimes I Cry' won over only 2.9%. Heejun Han's take on Donny Hathaway's 'A Song For You' garnered a similarly unenthusiastic response, eventually getting 5.1%.

Performing Mariah Carey's 'Without You', Joshua Ledet managed 6.9%, doing significantly worse than Hollie Cavanagh, who pulled in a respectable 9.0% for her soulful rendition of Carrie Underwood's 'Jesus Take the Wheel'.

Rocker Colton Dixon, seen as one of the most original artists in the competition, won 10.6% of reader votes for his cover of Lighthouse's 'You and Me', while Phillip Phillips's performance of Jonny Lang's 'Still Runnin'' impressed with 13.2%.

Rising to the top of the pack, Elise Testone - often seen in the bottom two - did significantly better this week, with her lively take on Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love' getting a well-earned 13.5% of votes.

Still, it's three-time favourite Jessica Sanchez who came out on top yet again, pulling in a staggering 36.2% for her stylised ballad version of Beyoncé's 'Sweet Dreams'.
