5.40pm: Digital Spy's coverage of the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con continues now with the Showtime panel. First up, it's Shameless with stars William H Macy (Frank), Emmy Rossum (Fiona), Justin Chatwin (Steve) and producer John Wells.

5.43pm: William H Macy seems to have come to the panel in character as the drunken Frank, and claiming that he didn't need to do any research to play such a "b**tard" - this could be an interesting panel!

5.45pm: Justin Chatwin admits that he is unsure if his character Steve will be back for the second season of Shameless and John Wells jokes that the actor was only invited to Comic-Con by mistake.

5.47pm: Emmy Rossum discusses the addition of Lone Star actor James Wolk to the cast as Fiona's new love interest. William H Macy quips, "The only way to get over someone is to get under someone."

5.48pm: John Wells confirms that Joan Cusack will reprise her role as Sheila Jackson next season - yay! John also discusses the show's UK roots - the Showtime version is a remake - and confirms that season two will begin to "take on its own life" and move away from the original show's story-lines.

5.51pm: The show's stars discuss whether Shameless could ever "go too far" - John Wells suggests that the series is reality-based and does not stretch credibility, while Emmy reveals that she is eager to "push boundaries".

5.55pm: John claims that a naked bum was inserted into the show's title sequence on purpose - viewers certainly aren't being misled about what type of show they're watching!

6.00pm: The stars discuss their favourite moments from Shameless so far - William H Macy nominates Fiona and Steve's first meeting from the pilot, while Justin Chatwin claims that he loved Frank getting "p*ssed on" by Lip in the first season finale. Charming!

6.03pm: Emmy is quizzed about nudity on television and claims that there is a "stupid stigma" about naked bodies. "It doesn't seem like much to me," she says, "But people are all a tizzy about it!"

6.05pm: It's fan question time! One Shameless viewer asks the cast about their most embarrassing moment on-set, William H Macy admits that he broke into giggles when filming the aforementioned scene in which Frank is urinated on. "I don't know what to do when someone pees on my head!" confesses the Emmy award-winning actor.

6.11pm: John Wells previews the second season of Shameless and reveals that a few "loose ends" will be tied up in future episodes. Fiona will also begin to reexamine her role in the family as the Gallagher children grow older.

6.15pm: Emmy talks about her decision to take a role as a series regular on television. She highlights the opportunities that cable television allows a young actress, while William H Macy adds that "the best stuff being made anywhere is being made on television".

6.17pm: Wrapping up the panel, William calls working on Shameless "a joy". He concludes, "I'm just in love with this job."

6.18pm: And that's a wrap for the Shameless panel. Digital Spy's coverage of the 2011 Comic Con will continue soon with a live blog of Showtime's Dexter panel - stay tuned!
