But wipe away those tears, Nerd Herders! Before we wave goodbye to Chuck (Zachary Levi), Morgan (Joshua Gomez), Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), Casey (Adam Baldwin) and the rest of the gang for good, there's just enough time to look back at a few of the moments that made the show so great!
Bryce Larkin is alive! - from 'Chuck Versus the Imported Hard Salami' (Season 1, Episode 9 - first aired on November 19, 2007)
One of the show's first real shocks - suave secret agent Bryce Larkin (Matthew Bomer) was believed to be dead, having been shot by Casey in the Chuck pilot episode. But eight weeks later, the CIA cautiously opened up a canister that they believed to be a bomb and found Bryce inside, perfectly preserved! The character formed part of an awkward love triangle with Chuck and Sarah, before dying again - for real this time - in the second season finale.
"I know kung fu!" - from 'Chuck Versus the Ring' (Season 2, Episode 22 - first aired on April 27, 2009)
Speaking of which... following Bryce's tragic death, Chuck decides to sacrifice his one chance at a normal life by taking his old friend's place as the human Intersect. Uploading the newly souped-up device into his brain, Chuck gains a few new skills. Sarah and Casey can only watch with jaws agape as the once hapless nerd unleashes his new-found kung-fu skills on a batch of enemy spies!
Chuck shoots Shaw, saves Sarah - from 'Chuck Versus the Other Guy' (Season 3, Episode 13 - first aired on April 5, 2010)
Daniel Shaw (Brandon Routh) was one of Chuck's very best villains. Harbouring resentment over the death of his wife, the corrupt government agent prepares to murder a disorientated Sarah, convinced that Chuck doesn't have what it takes to stop him. Shaw soon learnt the errors of his ways as the nerd-turned-spy pumped three bullets into his chest! He wasn't gone for good, of course, but this face-off remains an epic moment in the show's history!
Stephen J Bartowski dies - from 'Chuck Versus the Subway' (Season 3, Episode 18 - first aired on May 24, 2010)
Chuck has always been famed for casting cult legends in recurring roles, and perhaps the greatest example was Chuck and Ellie's father Stephen J Bartowski, played by Quantum Leap's Scott Bakula. So it was all the more tragic when Stephen was killed off - shot dead by the merciless Shaw in an attempt to emotionally manipulate his nemesis Chuck. We knew this show could bring the laughs, but with scenes like this, it delivered real emotion too.
Chuck (finally) proposes to Sarah - from 'Chuck Versus the Push Mix' (Season 4, Episode 13 - first aired on January 31, 2011)
Our hero's first proposal to the love of his life didn't exactly go smoothly - after pouring his heart out and getting known on one knee, Chuck is stunned when the CIA interrupts proceedings to arrest Sarah for treason! Once the confusion is cleared up, Chuck finally gets his girl, asking for her hand in a hospital hallway. But the moment remains private - the couple's words are hidden from the viewer by the drone of a floor waxer!
